Rain Deities and the From Yard Meadow
egg tempera, natural pigments, and gum arabic on archival paper
Sarita Dougherty collaborates with elders, community, ancestor and ecosystem to grow the Ecocene, an imagined and emergent geologic era of sustainable human reciprocity with the planet.
Her plein-air portraits of place document ethnoecology, intercultural aesthetics and Earth-based spirituality. She begins each painting in offering and sits with site to learn aquifer restoration, native planting, forest wisdom and seeding food meadows.
She holds a PhD for Pachamama and is co-creator of School for the Ecocene, a worker-owned co-op growing community and curricula for planetary liberation.
